(Nashville, Tenn.) March 15th 2006 – Modern rock group Mainstay has seen rave reviews with their major label debut Well Meaning Fiction on BEC Recordings this past February 21st.
From top to bottom the album delivers, whether it's the melodic music or the marvelous vocals or the thoughtful lyrics, there's plenty to be excited about with this new group. Mainstay should quickly become a firm fixture in CD players everywhere. This is a debut that is not to be missed. – cmcentral.com
The album has a killer intro track in “These Pages,” and the acoustic reprise of “Take Away” has a simplicity that’s as pure as their message: “It’s all from Your hand / There’s nothing that’s mine.” Although slightly familiar in sound, it’s a valiant effort for a debut album. An “Artist On The Rise” -Creation Festival
In support of their debut, Mainstay joins Sanctus Real and The Afters on a 40-city nationwide tour, already underway through this May. Mainstay will perform at summer music festivals including Creation East, Creation West, Cornerstone, Sonshine, and Alive. The band also recently joined John Reuben and Falling Up on a 30-city tour, as well as performing four dates as part of the “See Spot Rock 2006” tour featuring Pillar. Mainstay will play at the upcoming Tooth and Nail showcase at Gospel Music Week this April 4th at 7pm.
Well Meaning Fiction hails the production team of Aaron Sprinkle (Kutless, Pedro the Lion, Anberlin) and Zach Hodges, and includes 10 songs written by lead singer Justin Anderson with additional songwriting by band mate Ryan DeYounge. The first single “Take Away” is moving up the CHR radio charts at the #25 spot with more than half of the CHR panel playing the song.
Fronted by Justin Anderson, the Minneapolis-based trio is rounded out by Ryan DeYounge on drums and Dan Ostebo on bass. Mainstay, originally a punk band practicing out of a garage, refined their sound throughout five years time. The band went on to record an EP on their own, which eventually amassed a grassroots following and record label interest.
