After scoring their first ever hit on the Active Rock charts last year with “Guilty,” Since October have returned with a brand new album and lead single which picks up where they left off.
The band’s first single from their sophomore release Life, Scars, Apologies – “The Way You Move” has now become their second consecutive Top 30 hit at rock radio. And it’s still continuing to climb.
"It's exciting to have song back on the rock charts,” remarked lead singer Ben Graham. “’The Way You Move' is doing great at radio and at the live show. It's one of our favorite songs to play and the crowds seem to really love it. We’ve also been getting a lot of response for the video, so if you haven't seen it, go check it out! The foursome made up of Ben Graham (Lead Vocals), Luke Graham (Guitar / Backing Vocals), Josh Johnson (Bass) and Audie Grantham (Drums) are excited to get their latest single on the air.
Through driving rhythms, memorable choruses, moving melodies and rock solid bottom end, the Floridian bred band have connected with listeners in clubs across America, on the radio, and via the Internet. The band’s authentic, pure voice delivered a significant following through the release of their debut album This Is My Heart in 2008, which has built steadily in to imminent street date of Life, Scars, Apologies. Graham shares, “Anything in our lyrics is usually something I've dealt with or maybe someone in the band is dealing with. People are attracted to that level of honesty, especially in the clubs. When people see us on stage, they might assume that we've got everything together and our lives are perfect. We like to say, 'You know, we might be on stage but we're not any higher than you guys are and we're struggling through this just as much as you guys are.' We're just trying to tell our stories."
Life, Scars, Apologies -- the band's new album -- undoubtedly kicks down even more doors for Since October, spreading their huge riffs and big harmonies further across the globe. The band is poised to do great things, but by no means have they forgotten how and why they started. "Our faith is a huge part of our lives -- what we do, how we live," explains lead vocalist Ben Graham.
Since October was built from the ground up, kicking and clawing in the hardscrabble Southern club circuit as a self-made rock n' roll band and selling 5,000 copies of their self-financed CD through word of mouth. They've toured with bands like Trapt, 10 Years, Saving Abel and Saliva and shared stages with Shinedown, Flyleaf, Papa Roach, Chevelle and Judas Priest, to name a few. Most importantly for the group they've been able to connect to a wider audience with their music and messages.
"A lot of the songs are really upbeat and fast tempo on the first album compared to this new one," Ben points out. "We really drop the tempo down and just chug a little bit on this album."

This four piece rock band has a history of being very honest in their lyric writing and being very vulnerable and open with their audience. This seems to be a rising trend in music. People want to hear honesty, especially in the Christian market, and Since October does a great job of that once again with their new release, “Life, Scars, Apologies.” With a track listing of songs that range from soft, ballads to gritty, in-your-face songs, Since October has something for people of a variety of musical tastes while still keeping their sound unique to themselves.
Since October is characterized by contrasting dynamics, intense vocals, dramatic rhythmic pauses and syncopations, and fast paced guitar licks all meshed into one wall of sound. “The Show” is a great example of a high intensity, fast paced song with lots of contrast. The title track is one of my personal favorites, having a great message of understanding that love can cover our mistakes and we can learn from them. “I’m not proud of the scars that I’ve made, but they remind me of what needs to change.”
Any fans of Disciple or Decyfer Down definitely ought to check out this new release from Since October. These guys will bring you both hope and encouragement through times of hardship and reminders to stay solid in what you believe.
Seattle, WA...May 20, 2008...Being humbled through life's experiences, the Florida natives, who call themselves Since October, prepare to release their national label debut on Tooth&Nail Records in one week. Their musical unveiling, This is My Heart, releases May 27th, following the successful debut digital single, "Disaster," which is currently charting on the rock chart.
Produced by Travis Wyrick (P.O.D., Pillar, Disciple), This is My Heart is an honest and vulnerable musical portrait Since October hopes that listeners grab hold from the collection of heavy rock songs with no hidden agenda beyond connecting the hearts of those that listen. In addition, Marcos Curiel, guitarist of P.O.D. co-produced and co-wrote two tracks on the debut.
"I was really excited that Since October asked me to be involved in their record," shares Marcos Curiel. "We had a great time in the studio and the music sounds fantastic. When I think of Since October, I think great band, great bunch of guys, gators tots and good orange juice...not to mention straight ahead, melodic hard rock - with sunshine all over it!"
Frontman and lyricist Ben Graham shares, "It's truth. It's real life stories. And this record is a part of me. And probably a part of me that most people would never see if I could not put it to music, it's honest. It's just rock n' roll. Though this is the band's first label release, these four Bradenton, Florida stalwarts are far from freshmen. They sold more than 5,000 copies of an independent release prior to signing to Tooth&Nail, and have toured extensively during the two-year stretch that has led them up to this point. Having shared the stage with Seventh Day Slumber, Pillar, Disciple, Decyfer Down, and Underoath, they are more than gearing up for the hundreds of shows that are soon to follow. Since October also just finished touring with Seventh Day Slumber throughout the spring.
