Worship leader and Great Worship Songs artist Carl Cartee will host his second annual INSPIRE conference in Nashville on May 13-14 at Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, Tenn. Among the conference events will be a songwriting contest sponsored by Great Worship Songs.
Its second year running, INSPIRE is designed to equip worship leaders, artists, worship teams, bands and songwriters for excellence in worship ministry. The conference provides an opportunity for the worship community to connect, create, and be inspired through workshops, seminars, and one-on-one interaction with music industry professionals. This year, the event will include appearances by noted international worship figures Tommy Walker, Dr. Pete Sanchez, Dave Buehring as well as Word/Myrrh recording artist Pocket Full of Rocks and The Inspire Worship Band, among others. For a complete list of guests and workshops, visit www.inspireworshipconference.com
“Our vision for this event is rooted in supporting and encouraging worship leadership in the church,” says Cartee. “For those called to lead worship music, finding a great community is essential to having longevity and quality in ministry. No one should ever lead worship outside the influence of God’s Word and His people, so INSPIRE is building a community for worship leaders to find courage, compassion and accountability. From practical skill to spiritual discipline, there is something for every member of the team at this conference. I am eager to see the great things that God brings to life through our time together.”
New to this year’s event, INSPIRE will partner with Great Worship Songs to discover the best in local worship talent. Writers may submit a self-penned worship song online for the opportunity to win a publishing contract with Brentwood Benson/GreatWorshipSongs.com. The winner will also receive a free professional demo of the winning song and complimentary registration for INSPIRE ’10. For contest guidelines, go to www.inspireworshipconference.com/participate.
“Great Worship Songs is thrilled to support Carl Cartee and his growing INSPIRE conference,” says GreatWorshipSongs.com Brand Manager John Andrade. “Helping to provide a platform to teach, serve and refresh worship leaders from across the country lines up perfectly with Great Worship Songs’ business goals. Events like INSPIRE enhance the genre of worship music, the overall Christian music industry and, most importantly, they provide a direct service to the church which is invaluable for those of us working in the Christian music industry. It will be exciting to see the talent and passion represented at this year’s event.”
INSPIRE ’09 comes on the heels of Cartee’s Great Worship Songs debut, Everything You Do, which released March 31, 2009. Cartee’s new album, recorded at the renowned Ocean Way Studios on Nashville’s famed Music Row, is what he describes as a “community project,” featuring a collection of friends, a community of worshippers, all raising their voices to glorify God. The album is currently featured at MusiChristian.com for $8.00, among other Christian retail outlets.
Born in Anchorage, Cartee found his musical niche early on, learning guitar at age 3. He graduated from Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina and began pursuing full-time ministry. After several years leading worship conferences and writing songs, Cartee and his wife moved to Nashville in 2005. Over the next few years, he recorded several albums and is now the worship leader at Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, Tenn. Celebrated worship leader and songwriter Carl Cartee will release his latest project, Everything You Do, on Great Worship Songs, an imprint operated by Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing, March 31. The album is backed by an extensive promotional campaign, kicking off this week.
“Everything You Do represents what I love about worship songs and making music for Jesus,” says Cartee. “It’s the four corners of a life that I try to pursue: community, creativity, worship and service. My hope is that this music inspires all of those things in the listener and equips them to lift up Jesus in everything they do.”
Cartee’s new project was recorded at the renowned Ocean Way Studios on Nashville’s famed Music Row. In the past the studio has hosted such artists as Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow and George Strait. With Everything You Do, the studio became occupied by a collection of friends, a community of worshippers, all raising their voices to glorify God. “This album was a community project,” Cartee says. “Community music is made for and by a community of people, and in this case, it was the people I live and work with day in and day out.”
As street date approaches, Everything You Do is the focus of multiple marketing promotions. The record will be highlighted as part of LifeWay’s spring GET TO KNOW new artist campaign in 150 LifeWay stores. “This is The Gift of God,” from Everything You Do, is also currently song of the week at WorshipSource.com and has been selected by Worship Leader Magazine for their May Song DISCcovery program which will feature the song to hundreds of worship leaders across the country. Additionally, the project can be pre-ordered on WorshipSource.com now through street date.
