After leading worship in front of over 22, 000 devoted college students at Passion 2011 earlier this month, last week the newest member of sixstepsrecords, Kristian Stanfill released his sophomore album Mountains Move selling over 6,000 copies and charting at No. 3 on the Contemporary Christian SoundScan chart and No. 2 on the Current Christian/Gospel Digital Albums chart.
Having introduced music listeners to Mountains Move back in September with his five song EP titled Day After Day, Stanfill’s latest project is captivating critics across the board shown in the quotes below:
" From the successful aftermath of his trademark song "Say,Say", Kristian Stanfill storms out with a beautiful sophomore project.Mountains Move ticks the box as one inspirational worship music everyone could do with." -Seattle Post Intelligencer
"Lord Almighty" and "Day After Day" are both great worship songs that I can imagine singing with fellow believers. If you like Fee, Charlie Hall, Chris Tomlin and Tim Hughes, you'll enjoy Kristian Stanfill.”-NewReleaseTuesday.com
"One of Kristian’s identifying attributes communicated clearly through his music is his profound passion to worship. He brings a reverence that is both rewarding to listen to and refreshing to worship with. His musical chops fall into the same genre as Tomlin and Fee."- On Course Magazine
“According to the graciously burgeoning songwriter, this worshipful collection centers on "believing that God is who he says he is" despite our circumstances. Stanfill accomplishes this brilliantly and cranks out songs that possess a distinctive solidarity: they all emphasize the unwavering nature and character of God”-Crosswalk.com
“Filled with sweeping verses, and sweeping anthemic choruses, the man knows how to pen a powerful tune. If you picked up is self-titled EP a few months ago, you would have already heard the first three songs off of this one….and you have not heard the best of Mr. Stanfill yet.”- HollywoodJesus.com
“Day After Day,” the first single from Mountains Move is resonating with listeners as well, as the song is continuing to rise on the radio charts currently at No. 21 on the National Christian Audience Chart and No. 28 on AC Indicator. In addition, the song is being spun over 13 major stations across the country as well hundreds more via the K-LOVE network.
This spring, Stanfill has a full tour schedule, for which new dates will be announced soon. To see if the worship leader is coming to a city near you and for more information on Stanfill, please visit www.kristianstanfill.com.
Most recently known for his energetic and powerful song “Say Say,” featured on Passion: Awakening, the newest member of the sixstepsrecords’ roster, Kristian Stanfill, is ready to unveil his sophomore record Mountains Move on Jan. 11, 2011.
Produced by Jason Ingram (Tenth Avenue North, MercyMe, Sanctus Real) and Rusty Varenkamp (Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman), the songs featured on Mountains Move stand ready to bring hope and a voice to people and churches all over the world.
“These songs are about having faith in God,” Stanfill notes, “and believing that God is who He says He is, no matter what our circumstances are. There’s a beautiful phrase: ‘Let’s stop living according to the size of our issues and start living according to the size of our God.’ That’s really what the record is saying. The situation might seem impossible, really bleak and dark right now, but remember how big our God is. Remember His promises. That gives you hope.”
Mountains Move represents a significant departure for Stanfill from many years of songwriting solo. He stepped outside of his comfort zone and fully embraced the concept of co-writing, as he teamed up with Dove Award winning songwriter Jason Ingram, GRAMMY ® Award nominated artist Chris Tomlin and Hillsong’s Reuben Morgan.
“If I were completely honest,” Stanfill confesses, “I think part of writing solo was my pride holding onto that process a little bit too tightly. I learned this year that when you let other people in the process, when you get a team around you, it becomes so much more fun.”
Critics were able to get a sneak peak at what was yet to come on Stanfill’s EP Day After Day that released back in September, and included his latest radio single Day After Day. The song is currently climbing the radio charts and is achieving airplay in major markets on stations such as KLOVE, KJLY in St. Louis, WQME in Indianapolis and WBSN in New Orleans.
Here's just an example of what people had to say about Day After Day ...
“The lyrics are nourishing for people who need encouragement when they flip on the radio. The songs remind us of who is ultimately in control. They carry hope to the tired and weak and remind us of the promises God made—the promises we so quickly forget when trials come. The tunes are catchy enough to be remembered, and his voice is clear and beautiful. I look forward to the full album releasing in January 2011.”-Hollywood Jesus
“Bridging the gap between last year’s debut and his 2011 full-length, Stanfill releases a five-song EP featuring three new studio tracks maxed with electrifying riffs, pounding drums and apt frontman vocals… proving the burgeoning worship leader worthy of his elite Passion label status.”-CCM Magazine
“Kristian Stanfill's 'Day After Day' is a compilation of songs of encouragement creating a worshipful heart within the listeners.”-Breathecast.com
“ ‘Lord Almighty’ sounds right out of Chris Tomlin’s catalog and should pick up quickly in congregations all over. With a refrain that plays easy in corporate worship, Stanfill’s onto something special here.”-Soul-Audio.com
To kick off the new year, Stanfill will lead worship at Passion 2011 in Atlanta, GA on January 1-4, alongside labelmates Chris Tomlin, David Crowder*Band, Charlie Hall, Matt Redman and Christy Nockels. It was at last year’s Passion conference that Stanfill led over 22,000 on-fire college-aged students in spirited worship. During the four-day event, attendees responded to the challenge to wed worship and justice by giving more than 1 million dollars on-site to various causes around the world to help those in need through the Do Something Now campaign. Do Something Now is a movement launched by Passion in 2007 and has funneled more than 2 million dollars to those in greatest need throughout the world.
