Gotta Have Gospel!, the first volume in the mega compilation series from Integrity Gospel and Gospo Centric/Zomba Gospel, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), announced Danny McGuffey, vice president and chief marketing officer for Integrity Media.
Gotta Have Gospel! features 28 songs with eight platinum and gold-selling artists and also includes the Dove Award-winning song “Dance, Dance, Dance” by Mary Mary, which was exclusive to the hits collection.
“The attraction of Gotta Have Gospel! has been that it truly showcases Gospel music at its best. By bringing together classic, current and future hit songs by the hottest gospel talent and the most promising emerging artists proved to be a gold-winning formula and we are pleased to celebrate this success with Gospo Centric and Zomba Gospel,” said McGuffey. "The response to Gotta Have Gospel! is a reflection of the growing popularity of the gospel genre in general, and that is worth celebrating. I hope that this project and others like it that have followed and will follow, continue to help us showcase the enormous diversity of talent that the gospel genre has to offer,” added Vicki Mack Lataillade, Gospo Centric Records founder and CEO.
The gold-certified project includes an “In The House” CD that features 14 traditional songs and an “On The Street” CD that features 14 urban songs including music from Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Israel and New Breed, Shirley Caesar, Joe Pace & The Colorado Mass Choir, Kurt Carr, Dorinda Clark Cole, Lisa McClendon, T.D. Jakes, Alvin Slaughter, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and Stephen Hurd. The artists featured on Gotta Have Gospel! that were new artists when the CD project released includes Raymond & Co. (Integrity Gospel), Ty Tribbett (Columbia Records) and American Idol finalist R.J. Helton (Gospo Centric).
The third disc, a DVD, contains five videos from Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Joe Pace & The Colorado Mass Choir, Dorinda Clark Cole and Byron Cage. In addition, the disc contains interviews with Lisa McClendon, Alvin Slaughter, Israel and new Gospo Centric artist Kelcey.
