The Alabama rockers’ debut, World We View, is an eclectic mix of rock styles, and while it reveals a band still finding its sound, there’s more than enough to provide a mid-winter pick-me-up to starving rock fans."
"Nine Lashes has produced a satisfying debut record that hopefully won’t go unnoticed and forgotten. Displaying a note-worthy amount of maturity, the band has garnered a new listener... I can see the World We View easily being popular amongst those who enjoy Christian rock or a good rock album in general."

2/17/2012 - Nine Lashes Receives Stellar Reviews
This week Tooth & Nail Records’ newest signing Nine Lashes released their label debut, World We View, receiving stellar reviews adding to the acclaim prior to the release. The highly talked about rock album debuted on the iTunes Rock chart peaking at No. 8 and staying strong in the Top 10 the entire week.
This Alabama-reared band worked with producer Aaron Sprinkle crafting their national debut. Together, the team turned in a sophisticated blend of modern, alternative and indie rock, undercut by a slew of rhythmic influences, cutting edge beats and even an appearance from screamo legend Ryan Clark (of Demon Hunter fame) on “Our Darkest Day” and Thousand Foot Krutch's Trevor McNevan on "Adrenaline."
As the album released, early reviews stated that the Nine Lashes’ debut is an “ambitious album (that) already promises to be one of the most solid rock debuts of the year,” (JesusFreakHideout) as well as placing the release in the ranks of RED’s Until We Have Faces. With the reviews below, it is clear that Nine Lashes is poised for a bright future.
“The songs on World We View exhibit an expansive rock sound, but every ounce is intended for mass appeal.”
– CCM Magazine 4 Star Review
“World We View is aggressive, both in its massive guitar riffs and its solid stand for truth in a crumbling world. This album is an achievement that promises great things from the future for Nine Lashes, and could easily hold its own amidst rock heavy weights in both Christian and mainstream rock formats.
- New Release Tuesday 5 Star Review
“If there is a new hard rock band built to succeed, it is definitely Nine Lashes. The band's World We View is made for modern rock success...thus Nine Lashes is the safest bet to make the biggest splash in 2012.”
- HM Magazine
"Full of boundless energy and musical maturity."
- Christianity Today 4 Star Review
“With such of a supported release, Nine Lashes is a band to watch out for in the future. World We View fits perfectly nestled in between Red’s Until We Have Faces and the TFK canon.”
- Christian Music Zine
“What sets Nine Lashes apart from the rest of the Christian rock scene is not their heavy rock, mature vocals, or their musical creativity. It’s their undeniable love for God that rings out of every track, and their mission to tell the lost that they have a purpose.”
- Jay's Musik Blog
This album has already produced a No. 1 Rock single with “Anthem of the Lonely,” which was at the top for two weeks and in the Top 10 for more than six months. The current rock single “Get Back” was the most added rock song this past week.
Nine Lashes is currently on the REDvolution tour featuring RED, Thousand Foot Krutch and Manafest. Nine Lashes is Jeremy Dunn- vocals, Noah Terrell- drums, Jared Lankford- bass, Adam Jefferson- guitar and Jonathan Jefferson- guitar. 1/18/2012 - Nine Lashes Set To Release Debut 2/14
Tooth & Nail Records’ new band Nine Lashes is gearing up for their label debut, World We View, releasing on February 14. This Alabama-reared band worked with producer Aaron Sprinkle (Anberlin, The Almost, Jeremy Camp, Hawk Nelson) crafting their national debut. Together, the team turned in a sophisticated blend of modern, alternative and indie rock, undercut by a slew of rhythmic influences, cutting edge beats and even an appearance from screamo legend Ryan Clark (of Demon Hunter fame) on “Our Darkest Day.”
“Rock has always been our musical centering, but we definitely wanted to showcase diversity on this record since we’ve matured as musicians since our demo days,” explains frontman Jeremy Dunn.
With the rock and diversity on this project, hope also exudes the album at every turn, thanks in part to members’ unwavering commitment to Christ. In fact, the group’s very moniker references the whip used to beat Jesus (cat of nine tails), while using Isaiah 53:5 to remember the wounds He suffered for humanity’s restoration. That grounding even inspired the album title World We View, which as Dunn so eloquently describes, furthers the group’s vision for impacting its listeners with positivity and truth.
“The more we travel and meet people, the more we find a lot of people with an incorrect view of God,” he shares. “So many people think He’s an angry and vindictive God who wants to punish them for everything, but the World We View is one where we draw close to God and strive to make His point of view our point of view. When we start to see the world the way God sees it, our vision won’t be blurred anymore.”
This album has already produced a No. 1 Rock single with “Anthem of the Lonely,” which was at the top for two weeks and in the Top 10 for more than six months. The debut is also garnering the attention of the media as JesusFreakHideout and NewReleaseTuesday both give their thumbs up to World We View before the album streets next month.
“If you are not familiar with the band's work, think of a mix of Red and 12 Stones with a little TFK. Nine Lashes have easily released the best modern/hard rock album since Red's Until We Have Faces early last year...”
– JesusFreakHideout.com Certified Pre-Order Worthy
“This ambitious album already promises to be one of the most solid rock debuts of the year. This album is an achievement that promises great things from the future for Nine Lashes, and could easily hold its own amidst rock heavy weights in both Christian and mainstream rock formats.”
– NewReleaseTuesday.com Official Review – 5 star review
Nine Lashes will be hitting the road next month on the REDvolution tour featuring RED, Thousand Foot Krutch and Manafest. Dates listed below. Nine Lashes is Jeremy Dunn- vocals, Noah Terrell- drums, Jared Lankford- bass, Adam Jefferson- guitar and Jonathan Jefferson- guitar. Follow their journey on Twitter @NineLashes and on Facebook.
6/27/2011 - Tooth & Nail Announces New Artist to the Family: Nine Lashes
Tooth & Nail Records proudly announces the signing of rockers Nine Lashes to their acclaimed roster. Nine Lashes’ debut Rock single will go for adds at radio on July 1st and will be available on iTunes July 12th. Their full-length label debut (co-produced by Aaron Sprinkle and Trevor McNevan) will release in early 2012.
“It is so crazy to know that we are signed to Tooth & Nail Records,” shares lead vocalist Jeremy Dunn. “Since I was a teenager, I’ve dreamed of playing music for a living. It is surreal to look back and see us come from nothing to this - God is truly impressive.”
Eventually Nine Lashes was discovered and brought to Tooth & Nail Records by label mate Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch, who also helped co-write many of the songs and some guest vocals.
“It is amazing to be on the Tooth & Nail Records label. I remember when we started the band, Tooth & Nail Records was ‘the label,’ and we would talk about someday being on the roster,” states guitarist Adam Jefferson. “Now that dream has become a reality.”
Nine Lashes’ different personalities and musical tastes are a creative melting pot that produces a hybrid sound that will take the listener from rock, to screaming guest vocals from Demon Hunter’s Ryan Clark (“Our Darkest Day”) to moving melodies. Their differences were once viewed as an obstacle to writing music, but they soon realized that working together and embracing these variances created just the right sound and combination for the album.
“We just began writing what we felt, and the diversity within our band translated itself right onto the record,” states Dunn.
The debut radio single “Anthem of the Lonely” is a band self-description about taking a stand for your beliefs even if that means that you are standing alone.
“When we were writing this song, I saw this story of a person going through this change. Their life is being transformed but there is still this doubt and looking back, having to let go of the old things – that whole process,” Dunn shares about writing the single.
